2012 – The Sequel: ‘Were we warned’

The course will review the key changes in the world of immigration over the last 6 months, with particular attention being given the 6 April changes to the Immigration Rules, which include:

• the rise of the Graduate Entrepreneur and the end of Post-Study Working;

• the six year itch and cooling off in Tier 2;

• new funding and maintenance requirements across the system;

• the use of curtailment for failing to start, or ceasing work or study;

• the creation of a new visitor route for paid engagements for the skilled or artistic.

The course will examine too the potential implications of the ‘zero tolerance’ rule changes proposed in respect of deportation of foreign national prisoners, and will undertake a comprehensive appraisal of key decisions of the Upper Tribunal and higher courts.
