The experts we work with come from a variety of areas and share a common passion for upholding human rights and social justice. Many of them take part in conferences run by HJT, while others are directly involved in the training courses and bespoke services we offer. Many of our experts contributed to our various Country of Origin Conference.

Pakistan expert. Roger Ballard works at the Centre for Applied South Asian Studies, University of Manchester. A freelance anthropologist and expert on the persecution of religious minorities, he has produced more than 250 expert reports on the subject. |

Eritrea expert. Dr Campbell is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology and Sociology, the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Sri Lanka expert. He is Professor of Social Anthropology in Practice at the University of Edinburgh. Professor Good has worked with the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and has made fact-finding visits to assess the Sri Lankan human rights situation. He has written on the role of expert witness in asylum proceedings. |

Zimbabwe expert. Mark is a public lawyer specialising in asylum, human rights, immigration, social welfare, and EU law at Doughty Street Chambers. He is the author of the Best Practice Guide to Asylum and Human Rights Appeals, ILPA/RLG/EIN, 2003 and co-author of Blackstone's Guide to the Asylum and Immigration Act 2004, OUP, 2004. He has worked on test case litigation in the AIT, Administrative Court and the Court of Appeal about the safety of Zimbabwe, which resulted in the suspension of removals to that country. He also cross-examined senior Home Office civil servants on their evidence in AIT hearings. |

She has particular expertise in the cultural and social history of Zimbabwe, most recently considering translation and interpretation in legal systems. In August 2006, he represented three failed Tibetan asylum seekers and was successful in establishing a country guidance case, which held that it was unsafe to return failed Tibetan asylum seekers to the People's Republic of China. |
